Department Of Oral Pathology & Microbiology

Oral Pathology is a core subject, the link between basic science and clinical dentistry and medicine.Oral Pathology is that part of pathology and a branch of dentistry concerned with the scientific study of the causes and effects of oral diseases an understanding of which is essential for diagnosis and for the development of rational treatment and preventive programmes.The Department of Oral Pathology at Kanthi Devi Dental College began the undergraduate course in the year 2002-2003 with the inception of the institute.The post-graduate course in the Department of Oral Pathology was started in the year 2009 and was recognised by the year 2012.

Objectives

  • To develop a platform for the exchange of relevant information and spreading awareness in children regarding oral pre cancer /cancer, hand hygiene, Oral hygiene, tobacco cessation, child abuse and malnutrition.
  • To contribute to the progress and promotion of the oral health of children, child abuse, malnutrition and to encourage research in these field.
  • Provide child patient/parent education, including anticipatory guidance in oral pre cancer /cancer, hand hygiene, Oral hygiene, tobacco cessation, child abuse and malnutrition.
  • To arrange camps in rural/suburban areas, scientific meetings and summit/conference.
  • Strengthen co-operation with other developing countries such as saarc countries

  • The mission of this body is working towards building a disease free and healthy community of children for holistic development of India. The society aims towards spreading awareness in children on oral pre cancer /cancer, hand hygiene, Oral hygiene, tobacco cessation, child abuse and malnutrition while maintaining the highest standards of ethics.

    GOALS

    • To meet the needs of infants and children regarding oral pre cancer /cancer, hand hygiene, Oral hygiene,
      tobacco cessation, child abuse and malnutrition.
    • Able to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams concerned with the welfare of children.
    • Promoting research in all aspects of oral health of children, child abuse, malnutrition and dissemination of
      knowledge in child’s health.

    DST FUNDED PROJECT

    Jan Jagriti is an organization which is being operated by the eminent faculty at FODS, KGMU funded and sponsored by DST working for defending and promoting Human Rights and in playing an important and positive role in the process of development and emancipation of the under privileged. We work in field of Human rights, Child abuse/neglect, special child’s care and malnutrition; also conduct pre cancer and cancer screening programs.
